What’s the thing you’re trying to change at the moment that you’re finding hardest to make happen?

How we work

See.Shift.Build.Move.

One way of working, whatever the thing turns out to be.

Why this way

The stated problem and the real one are rarely the same.

Briefs arrive already framed as a solution: a new brand, a new website, a campaign. Often the thing underneath is different. Four organisations describing the same programme four different ways, or a service nobody can find.

So we start by finding out. It is cheaper to discover that in week one than in month four, and it is the difference between making something and making something happen.

How we behave

01

In the room, not at you

We start with the people who have to live with it: staff, partners, residents, members. Not a presentation they sit through, a working session they shape. Nobody adopts something they had no part in making.

02

Name the actual problem

Usually it is not the one in the brief. The brief says identity; the problem is that four organisations describe the same programme four different ways. We would rather find that in week one than month four.

03

Build it to be run

Every decision gets tested against one question: can the person who is not a designer do this on Monday? If the answer is no, the system is wrong, however good it looks.

04

Stay until it moves

Launch is the middle of the job, not the end. Adoption gets designed, measured and corrected, because the evidence that it worked is what funds whatever comes next.
